Summertown Border Re-Design
The original borders of this garden were narrow and disproportionate to the large lawn. We extended the borders to improve their shape and planted a mix of herbaceous perennials and shrubs for year-round interest.
The Process
The new, wider borders were marked out with string to achieve the desired shape before being dug out. Any turf removed in the process was put aside to be composted at the back of the garden.
Then, using a mix of compost already on site and new compost that was brought in, the borders were mulched to improve the soil and to give the new planting the best possible start.
